Corrupt governments and corporations in BOTH the first world and the third world are keeping the people impoverished. Sending humanitarian aid, while noble, is only addressing the SYMPTOMS, not the CAUSES of the problem. This clip is a great summary of how the crooked system operates and explains more in 20 minutes than most people might have learnt in the last 20 years.

The info in the clip is really important stuff. It helps explain how things operate in the real world - not corporate TV fairy land world. The lessons here, where human lives don't count for much when it comes to power and money, also apply to the Middle East.
